Heavy snowfall, mostly in the Chungcheong and Honam regions, has led to the cancellation of two flights and the suspension of 58 ferries. Additionally, 16 roads are blocked, resulting in ongoing damage.

According to the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters, as of 6 a.m. on the 9th, heavy and very heavy snowfall is expected mainly in the Chungnam and Jeolla regions.

As of 5 a.m. that day, a heavy snow advisory had been issued for Jeonnam, Jeonbuk, Chungnam, and Gwangju. The new snowfall over the past 24 hours includes ▲Muju, Jeonbuk 17 cm ▲Sunchang, Jeonbuk 11.8 cm ▲Imsil, Jeonbuk 11.6 cm ▲Sejong 8.2 cm ▲Asan, Chungnam 5.8 cm ▲Yesan, Chungnam 5.5 cm ▲Jangseong, Jeonnam 4.9 cm ▲Jindo, Jeonnam 3.1 cm ▲Gwangju 2.3 cm.

As of now, there have been no reported casualties due to the heavy snowfall.

However, some flights and ferries have been suspended due to heavy snowfall. Two flights to Jeju were canceled, and 58 ferries operating on 46 routes, including Incheon to Baengnyeong and Yeosu to Geomun, have been suspended. Additionally, entry to 222 areas in nine national parks is restricted. A total of 16 roads in regions such as Chungnam, Jeonbuk, Jeonnam, and Gyeongnam are currently closed.

The Ministry of the Interior and Safety noted that as a heavy snow warning was issued the previous day at 6 p.m. for the southern Jeolla Region and southern Chungcheong, as well as the western inland of Gyeongnam, the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters activated the first phase and raised the snow crisis alert level from 'interest' to 'caution.'
