Goh, acting Minister of the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, noted regarding the 179 victims who died in the Jeju Air disaster that "the handover of the bodies to the families is expected to be completed today," on the 6th.
Goh stated this during the '11th meeting of the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasure Headquarters on the Jeju Air passenger aircraft accident' held that morning, noting that "the recovery and search efforts are in the final stage."
Goh also said, "Support will continue without interruption even after the funerals," adding that they will "maintain communication with the families who have returned home to continuously support any necessary matters and prepare to establish a dedicated support organization for continuous assistance."
Regarding malicious posts that tarnish the honor of the victims and their families, Goh stated, "The Korean National Police Agency is investigating a total of 126 malicious posts," noting that "there has been one arrest, five execution of seizure warrants, and 51 applications for warrants, thereby accelerating the investigation."
Following the Jeju Air disaster, the government is conducting special safety inspections on 101 aircraft of six airlines that are of the same model as the accident aircraft. In this regard, Goh noted, "We have completed a thorough inspection of maintenance records and maintenance check times, and we are checking the status of pilot training, situation reporting systems, etc.," adding that "special inspections of navigational safety facilities around runways at airports nationwide are also ongoing."
