The Ministry of the Interior and Safety announced on the 5th that it will translate and provide 235 types of document forms frequently used by foreigners into 10 languages.
The 10 languages are ◇English ◇Japanese ◇Chinese ◇Russian ◇Mongolian ◇Vietnamese ◇Uzbek ◇Tagalog (Philippines) ◇Thai ◇Khmer (Cambodia).
Until now, most domestic document forms have been provided only in Korean. Foreigners, who are not familiar with Korean, have had difficulties applying for civil services due to complex administrative terms. Representative forms that foreigners struggle to fill out include certificates of family relations, birth registration forms, and rental contract report forms for dwellings.
These translations will be distributed to local governments, central administrative agencies, public institutions, and multicultural centers that primarily handle foreign civil applications. However, the translations are for reference purposes for foreigners applying for civil services. When applying, they must fill out the existing forms in Korean.
Hwang Myung-seok, director of the Administrative and Civil Service Improvement Planning Division at the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, said, "We will continue to improve various services to enhance communication in a multicultural society and improve the living convenience of social members."
