Lee Ju-ho, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Education, noted in a New Year's address on the 2nd, “We will create classrooms without English-phobic or math-phobic students by utilizing artificial intelligence (AI) digital textbooks.”
Deputy Prime Minister Lee stated, “Significant changes are scheduled in the education field this year,” and added, “We will realize personalized education for each student through public education with a great transition to digital education using AI textbooks.”
He said, “To bridge the educational gap among students in public education regardless of region or income, we will promote the introduction of AI textbooks and improve large-scale teacher training and digital infrastructure in schools to bring about changes in teacher-led classroom instruction.”
Deputy Prime Minister Lee also stated, “As the RISE system starts operating in full force in all 17 local governments nationwide, changes driven by local governments and universities will also begin. It will be possible to directly witness diverse innovative cases that combine the strengths of universities, as engines of regional development, with the expertise of local governments that know regional circumstances better than anyone.”
He said, “The Ministry of Education will meticulously handle key policies this year to ensure that the public can feel positive changes in the education field,” and urged, “Let us all unite as one in the Ministry of Education to perform our duties with utmost care and strive to maintain the trust built through consistent communication with the field over the past two years.”
Deputy Prime Minister Lee remarked, “Our country has grown through the power of education,” adding, “The significant changes in the education field starting this year will be an important foundation and asset needed for us to advance to another level.” He further noted, “In the new year, the Ministry of Education will proactively lead to enable our country to make a new leap forward by leveraging the power and potential of our education.”
