The Ministry of the Interior and Safety announced on the 19th that it will support a total of 5 billion won in earmarked tax (special) to 39 local governments that have efficiently managed local organizations.

The government has recommended addressing improvements in the efficiency of local government personnel operations by redeploying rather than increasing staff. It also encouraged the abolition, consolidation, and reorganization of inefficiently run committees.

The Ministry of the Interior and Safety has decided to support a total of 3 billion won in earmarked tax (special) to 25 local governments that have reduced or frozen their staffing or redeployed personnel. In addition, a total of 2 billion won will be granted to 14 local governments that have promoted committee reorganization.

Kim Min-jae, Deputy Minister of the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, said, “In order to enhance the overall efficiency of government personnel operations, efforts by not only central government but also local governments are essential,” and added, “Through incentives for local governments with excellent organization management, we will spread best practices and support efficient local organization management led by local governments.”
