Megazone Cloud announced on the 2nd that it has appointed former Amazon Web Services (AWS) executive Yeom Dong-hoon as the new CEO.
The new CEO, Yeom Dong-hoon, will oversee all business operations at Megazone Cloud, driving global growth with a broad perspective. He is also expected to lead business expansion through partnerships with Cloud Service Providers (CSP) and Independent Software Vendors (ISV), as well as to oversee strategic investments from a global perspective. Additionally, he plans to actively expand new ventures based on generative AI services, which are gaining attention as a new growth engine.
Lee Joo-wan, founder of Megazone Cloud, will serve as chairman of the board, focusing on preparing for initial public offerings (IPOs) and exploring new business areas, as well as establishing future strategies and identifying investment opportunities based on his accumulated experience. Hwang In-cheol, who previously led the AWS division, has been appointed Chief Revenue Officer (CRO) and will be responsible for revenues of domestic operations and overseas subsidiaries, aiming to enhance customer satisfaction by fostering a nimble and proactive organizational culture alongside business growth.
Yeom has been recognized as a figure who has led digital innovation and strategic partnership development with nearly 30 years of experience at global companies like Amazon and Google. While leading the AWS global partner organization, he managed a team overseeing a global ecosystem of over 100,000 partners, including global system integrators like Accenture and Deloitte, as well as innovative software companies like Snowflake and Databricks, doubling partner contribution revenue.
During his tenure as the representative of AWS Korea, he achieved the establishment of data centers in South Korea ahead of countries where large markets were formed, such as India, the UK, and France. With this strategic business operation, AWS Korea grew into a leader with a dominant market share in the domestic corporate cloud service market during Yeom's term.
Yeom, who majored in electrical and computer engineering at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), also has entrepreneurial experience as the CEO of a digital consulting and development services company.
Chairman Lee Joo-wan noted, "Based on the growth achieved so far, I believe that with the addition of CEO Yeom, who has extensive experience and proven capabilities, Megazone Cloud will be a strong force at a time when it is facing new challenges. I expect him to play an important role in expanding global business, entering new markets, and also in the leap of existing businesses."
CEO Yeom Dong-hoon stated, "I am greatly impressed by the achievements made by Chairman Lee Joo-wan and the management team along with over 2,800 excellent employees," adding, "It is an honor to join the journey of capturing new opportunities and consolidating them into results, based on the best cloud expertise and partner ecosystem, while staying ahead of rapidly changing market trends."
