Tyler Rush, a broadcaster from the United States, shared a story about losing a sandwich he was holding while visiting a famous cafe, noting that he suffered due to the "smart order" service.
On the 8th, Tyler posted on his Instagram, "I can't believe this, the moment Americans feel like suing," along with a video detailing how he chose a sandwich at the cafe and while waiting in line to pay, an employee took the sandwich out of his hands, saying it was "already paid for."
Tyler said, "I feel like living more analogically is giving me a disadvantage, or is it just my illusion?" He explained, "I was hungry and went to the cafe during lunch hour. I chose the sandwich I wanted and was in line to pay. The employee took what was in my hand and said, 'Sorry, but it's already paid for.'"
The reason was that another customer had already paid for the sandwich Tyler picked using the "smart order" (Siren Order) mobile app to order drinks or food.
Tyler expressed his dissatisfaction, stating, "If that’s the case, I don’t understand why I was allowed to open the display and take out the sandwich myself." He added, "The conclusion is that automating everything doesn’t necessarily mean everything will be better."
After Tyler's experience was revealed, some internet users shared similar cases, expressing strong agreement with comments such as, "Shouldn't the first house be taken by the customer?" "This is really ridiculous," "If so, why is it displayed?" and "It seems the employee responded incorrectly."
The headquarters of the coffee specialty store stated, "We apologize for the inconvenience caused by giving priority to the already completed payment product" and added, "We will check our internal processes and improve any areas that need improvement."
Tyler has appeared in JTBC's "Abnormal Summit" and tvN's "Brain Sex Age - Problematic Man." He is currently appearing on JTBC's "Talk Partner 25 Hours."
