According to the police, the Emergency State Special Investigation Team of the Korean National Police Agency has booked Secretary Kim on charges of treason and summoned him for questioning as a suspect on the 8th.
Secretary Kim is under suspicion for reviewing emergency-related laws at the presidential residence with former Minister of the Interior and Safety Lee Sang-min, Minister of Justice Park Sung-jae, and Administrator of the Legislation Agency Lee Wan-kyu on the day after President Yoon Suk-yeol declared the state of emergency on the 4th of last month. With his booking, the number of individuals under investigation by the special team has increased from 49 to 50. This includes ▲26 individuals related to the ruling party ▲19 military personnel ▲5 police officers.
Following the investigation of National Security Office Director Shin Won-sik on the 7th, it was reported that the schedule for attendance by the Chief of Staff to the President, Chung Jin-seok, is also being coordinated.
