Twelve members of the Korean University Student Progressive Alliance were taken into police custody on the 10th for allegedly staging a surprise protest in front of the U.S. Embassy.

According to the police, the alliance staged an anti-U.S. protest around 12:05 p.m. in front of the U.S. Embassy in Jongno District, Seoul. They held signs reading, "U.S., apologize for supporting Han Deok-soo, who acted as an agent of insurrection, and ask for a meeting with university students," and sat in front of the entrance for embassy vehicles while chanting slogans such as "We condemn foreign meddling" and "The U.S. must immediately stop its foreign interference."

The police took them to the Jongno Police Station for violating the assembly and demonstration law, and they plan to investigate the details of the incident.
