A heavy snow advisory has been issued for all areas of Seoul except the southeastern region, with up to 8 cm of snow forecasted on the 5th.
The Korea Meteorological Administration issued a heavy snow advisory at 7:30 a.m. for northeastern, northwestern, and southwestern regions of Seoul, except for the southeastern part.
The expected snowfall is 3-8 cm, with the Korea Meteorological Administration forecasting that in some places up to 8 cm may accumulate. Snow is expected to fall heavily in some areas of Seoul until the morning, tapering off by late afternoon.
As of this time, areas under a heavy snow advisory include Seoul, Gyeonggi Province (Bucheon, Gimpo, Dongducheon, Yeoncheon, Pocheon, Gapyeong, Goyang, Yangju, Uijeongbu, Paju, Guri, Namyangju), Gangwon Province (Cheorwon, Hwacheon, Chuncheon, Yanggu and Inje plains, northern mountainous regions of Gangwon), and Incheon (excluding Ongjin County).
The Ministry of the Interior and Safety activated the Level 1 Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasure Headquarters at 8 a.m., raising the snow crisis alert level from 'attention' to 'caution.'
Heavy snow warnings are divided into heavy snow advisories and heavy snow warnings. A heavy snow advisory is issued when more than 5 cm of snow is expected to accumulate in 24 hours. A heavy snow warning is issued when more than 20 cm of snow is expected within 24 hours. In mountainous areas, a heavy snow warning is issued when more than 30 cm is expected to accumulate in 24 hours.
