Chef Ahn Yoo-seong, who gained fame by appearing on the Netflix variety show "Black and White Chef: Culinary Class Warfare," visited Muan Airport on the 30th to deliver 200 servings of gimbap to the families of Jeju Air aircraft accident victims.

Ahn told reporters at Muan Airport at around 4 p.m. that day, "I heard the news in the kitchen. There was also a filming schedule, but I came out with staff after making gimbap."

Regarding the gimbap, Ahn said, "We prepared 200 servings," adding, "Muan Myeongga Yoon Yong-moon, the head of (Muan local restaurant), prepared 500 servings, and we came together from there as well." Ahn operates a Japanese restaurant in Seo-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City. It is said Ahn came to Muan Airport with staff to prepare the gimbap starting early that morning.

On Jan. 1, the first day of the new year, Ahn plans to prepare rice cake soup to share with the bereaved families. Ahn noted, "I have no talent other than cooking, so I felt I had to volunteer through food to feel at ease." The rice cake soup volunteer work is scheduled to be conducted with the Chefs Association and Gwangju Metropolitan City.

Convenience store 7-Eleven launched "Tamago Sand" and "Tamago Gimbap" named after Chef Ahn. Ahn mentioned, "I plan to purchase about 500 of them at the (7-Eleven) Muan Airport branch and distribute them daily until the situation is resolved."

Of the 175 passengers who died in this accident, 90% were residents of Jeonnam and Gwangju. Ahn said, "(The victims) are all connected to our families. If you go a step further, you know everyone," adding, "Even a producer I worked with on the show has passed away. It's heartbreaking."
