Police have launched a search and seizure against the Korean Confederation of Trade Unions (KCTU) construction union in connection with the 'advertising tower high-altitude protest.'

Seoul Yeongdeungpo Police Station is sending investigators to the construction union office in Daerim-dong, Yeongdeungpo-gu, on the 26th to secure meeting materials and work-related computers.

Previously, two KCTU construction union members held a protest for a month starting in October by climbing an advertising tower near the National Assembly in Yeouido, demanding the withdrawal of the management's wage reduction plan and resumption of negotiations. They came down after reaching an agreement to resume negotiations with the Korea Reinforced Concrete Association, an employers' association, through mediation by the Democratic Party's Euljiro Committee.

The police are investigating these individuals after arresting them on charges of obstruction of business and trespassing. The police believe that the high-altitude protest may have been an organized act according to the internal guidelines of the construction union and are checking whether the union leadership was involved.

The construction union issued a statement saying, “The police search and seizure aims solely to criminalize the union's struggle.”
