The emergency martial law special investigation unit of the Korean National Police Agency announced that former Minister of the Interior and Safety Lee Sang-min was summoned as a suspect for questioning at around 2 p.m. on the 16th.
Former Minister Lee was accused of participating in a coup by attending the Cabinet meeting held before the declaration of martial law and abetting martial law. Former Minister Lee expressed a desire to resign on the 8th, and President Yoon Suk-yeol accepted the resignation, leading to dismissal. Former Minister Lee is an alumnus of Choongam High School along with President Yoon, former Minister of National Defense Kim Yong-hyun, and former Army Counterintelligence Command Chief Yeo In-hyung.
