Park Jong-rae, president of Ulsan National Institute of Science and Technology (UNIST), vowed to develop UNIST into 'the Stanford of Ulsan.'

In a special message sent to members of the school on the 7th, Park noted, 'In this era of great transition, UNIST must become a 'pioneer' that opens new paths in education, research, and internationalization,' adding, 'Securing UNIST's irreplaceable originality amid the challenges of economic recession and a population cliff will provide a foundation for not just survival but also for gaining an advantage.'

Park stated that in the educational institutional sector, he will focus on enhancing abilities in artificial intelligence (AI) utilization and English discussion skills. In the research institutional sector, he plans to advance both basic and applied research in balance and establish a platform for the consolidation of regional industry and UNIST's cutting-edge technology. In the internationalization institutional sector, he aims to expand networks with domestic and international universities and research institutions.

Park emphasized, 'The year 2025 will mark the 10th anniversary of the transformation of the institute, and it will be a crucial turning point for UNIST's change and leap forward,' stating, 'Based on regional roots, we will connect the nation and the world, and lead the era of technological hegemony with UNIST's competitiveness and excellence.'
