The Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) announced that it has opened three additional Next Generation Collaborative Research Rooms and held a plaque ceremony on the morning of the 7th. The Next Generation Collaborative Research Rooms are a research system that allows retiring professors to pass on their accumulated academic achievements and know-how through collaboration with junior professors. Since its introduction in 2018, nine rooms have been in operation by the end of last year, and with the recent additions, the total number of Next Generation Collaborative Research Rooms has increased to 12. This year's newly added Next Generation Collaborative Research Rooms are led by Professor Hyeon-Joon Yoo from the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Professor Sang-Kyu Kim from the Department of Chemistry, and Professor Soo-Bok Moon from the Department of Computer Science.
The Korean Intellectual Property Office announced that it is recruiting corporations to participate in the "carbon-neutral sector idea transaction and commercialization support project." This project is part of the "Net Zero Challenge X Project" conducted by the 2050 Carbon Neutral Green Growth Committee, aimed at discovering citizens' ideas for climate technology projects and supporting product development strategies based on those ideas. Corporations wishing to participate in the project can apply until the 6th of next month. Detailed project announcements can be found on the Korean Intellectual Property Office and Idearo's website.
The National Science and Technology Council (NST) announced that it received an excellence award in the self-audit category of the "2024 Self-Audit Items Contest" organized by the Board of Audit and Inspection. The Board of Audit and Inspection selects and awards excellent audit items from self-audit organizations subject to the Public Audit Act every year. The NST established its Audit Committee in 2022 and unified the audits of 23 government-funded research institutes. This award is a result achieved two years after the launch of the NST Audit Committee.
