The Korea Research Foundation announced on the 6th that it has appointed Dr. Lee Seong-jong as the Director General of the Public Technology Division.
The Director General graduated from Hanyang University with a degree in physics in 1989 and received a master's degree in condensed matter physics from the same graduate school. He then obtained a doctorate in physiology from Catholic University. He joined the Korea Research Foundation in 2022 and has been working there since. During this time, he served as a visiting researcher at the U.S. National Institutes of Health (NIH), the Director of the Nordic Institute of Technological Cooperation, and a policy research member of the National Science and Technology Council.
The Director General is responsible for managing the evaluation of support projects under the Public Technology Division, project planning, proposing medium- to long-term development plans, policy establishment and consulting, budget allocation, progress monitoring, promoting the utilization of results, and matters related to external cooperation.
