E-Land Group's E-Land World officially apologized for the incorrect filling rate of the goose down used in its fashion brand Hua Yu's goose down jumper product. The controversial product is the Hua Yu goose down jumper (product number: WHJDE4V37U), which was found to have a lower goose feather content than the specified standard during the filling material inspection process.

The fact that the padding products from Who Are You are below the required filling content has come to light, causing controversy. E-Land World officially apologized on Dec. 6 regarding this situation. /Courtesy of Who Are You

E-Land World expressed in an official statement on the 6th, "We feel a heavy responsibility for the fact that Hua Yu's products did not meet the promised quality standards and extend our deepest apologies," adding, "We sincerely apologize to the customers who trusted us and purchased our products for the disappointment caused."

This controversy arose after it was revealed during the filling material inspection process that the specified goose feather content differed from the stated figures on the product. The filling material ratio for the product is indicated as 80% goose down and 20% duck down. However, during the inspection process, it was found that the product contained 30% goose down and 70% duck down.

In relation to this, E-Land noted, "The fundamental cause was our excessive reliance on the quality assurance of overseas local partners and neglecting our own verification procedures," and stated, "We halted sales of the product immediately upon confirming the fact, and we are currently in the process of recalling all products currently distributed."

The affected products are set to be completely discarded once recalled. In particular, E-Land has decided to offer a 100% refund along with additional mileage equivalent to the purchase amount. An E-Land official stated, "We will provide a 100% refund to customers who return the product," adding, "As an expression of our apology, we will also provide additional mileage that can be used immediately on the official Hua Yu website equivalent to the purchase amount."

Furthermore, E-Land promised to improve its overall quality control system to prevent similar incidents from occurring again. They plan to strengthen quality verification throughout the entire process from raw material procurement to final product shipment, as well as to add repetitive inspection procedures to establish a strict quality control system.

Previously, Musinsa was also embroiled in a controversy regarding the incorrect filling rate of padding products from brands listed on its platform. The brand Laphazard Store, which is available on Musinsa, stated that its duck down Arctic hooded padding product used "80% down feathers," but it was actually revealed that the usage was only about 3%. According to the Korea Consumer Agency, for a product to be labeled as down, the feather ratio must be at least 75%.

In response, Musinsa instituted a 'three strikes and you're out' policy. Moving forward, they will regularly check the detailed information of the products subject to investigation, and if a brand is caught more than three times, they will be disqualified from selling on the platform. They plan to focus on inspecting products from the brand sold in three locations: Musinsa Store, 29CM, and Musinsa Global Store.
