Shinsegae Department Store announced on the 25th that it will hold a 'countdown' to welcome the New Year at Shinsegae Square, which has emerged as a New Year's attraction this year. Shinsegae Square, the first large-scale signage of the 'Myeongdong Square' project that transformed the Myeongdong area into a city of light, will serve as the main screen for this countdown festival.

This countdown festival will take place at 11 p.m. on the 31st in front of the main building of Shinsegae Department Store. Citizens and foreign tourists attending the '2025 Countdown Show Light Now' festival, organized by Jung-gu Office, will shout the New Year countdown together. The festival stage will be held at two locations: the Seoul Central Post Office Plaza and the fountain plaza in front of the main building of Shinsegae Department Store.

Shinsegae plans for Shinsegae Square, which is at the center of the countdown, to establish itself as a representative New Year's destination in Seoul. Previously, Shinsegae Square, which was unveiled during a lighting ceremony on the 1st of last month, has emerged as a prominent destination in Seoul amid the high interest of domestic and international customers by broadcasting Christmas videos and K-pop and cultural content through its large digital signage.

Shin Joo-hyung, CEO of Shinsegae Department Store, noted, 'Shinsegae Square, where Shinsegae's heritage and K-content come together, is expected to offer customers another unique memory as the center of the New Year's countdown festival,' and he added, 'It will transform into a representative destination of Korea with a variety of light spectacles.'
