E-Mart said on the 12th that it will open the E-Mart Food Market in Susung on the 13th. The E-Mart Food Market in Susung, located in Daegu's Susung District, is a grocery-focused store that aims for everyday low prices. E-Mart, which sees strengthening its core competitiveness as a growth engine to directly confront the rapidly changing online and offline retail market, is introducing a new pricing innovation model.
The E-Mart Food Market in Susung is E-Mart's second next-generation store following the Starfield Market in Jukjeon. While the Starfield Market Jukjeon has achieved spatial innovation as a locally integrated shopping mall that combines rest, experience, and shopping, the E-Mart Food Market in Susung has realized pricing innovation that reduces the burden of grocery prices, according to E-Mart.
The total sales area of the E-Mart Food Market in Susung is 3,966 square meters (1,200 pyeong). Of this, 86%, or 2,829 square meters (856 pyeong), is filled exclusively with grocery products, excluding tenant spaces and event areas.
The store plans to operate product prices 20-50% cheaper than discount stores to achieve everyday low prices. The meat sold in a basic 600g unit at discount stores has been reduced to 400-500g, and the packaging size of vegetables has been lowered by more than 30%, reducing the price per unit by up to 50%.
In particular, major processed foods that are sensitive to price, such as ramen, sesame oil, gochujang, tuna, milk, and wine, will be sold at the lowest prices in the region through periodic market research. Additionally, over 70 types of their own brand series ‘Reasonable Low Price’ suitable for E-Mart Food Market have been prepared with key partners.
An E-Mart official noted, 'We plan to minimize store operating costs and focus solely on price discounts,' adding, 'Customers will be able to purchase groceries at overwhelming prices that will astonish them.'
