The Korea Cement Association held a special general meeting that day at the Plaza Hotel in Seoul, where it appointed CEO Jeon Geun-sik as the president and held a New Year's greeting meeting.

Newly appointed President Jeon Geun-sik graduated from Hanyang University's Department of Resources Engineering and joined Hanil Cement in 1991, where he served as the deputy head of the Danyang plant, head of corporate management planning, management head, senior vice president of Hanil Hyundai Cement headquarters, and CEO of Hanil Holdings. He has been serving as the president of Hanil Cement and Hanil Hyundai Cement since 2022. President Jeon is particularly regarded for his core competencies in corporate planning, including affiliate management and new business initiatives at Hanil Cement.

President Jeon successfully executed the acquisition of Hyundai Cement as the operational head in 2017. Since then, he has contributed to the early stabilization of Hyundai Cement and the creation of integrated value with Hanil Cement. He has introduced environmental, social, and governance (ESG) management across the company since 2022 and has also served as Chairperson of the ESG Committee. His significant interest and efforts in eco-friendly management are evident, as well as his commitment to practicing corporate social responsibility.

In the cement industry, there is high regard for President Jeon Geun-sik's extensive experience and leadership in elevating the Hanil Cement Group as a leading company for over 30 years. With the recent severe downturn in the construction market leading to decreased cement shipments, the association is making concerted efforts to tackle internal and external issues, and President Jeon is seen as the right person to foster unity among cement companies.

During his inauguration speech, President Jeon Geun-sik stated, "This year, due to the economic downturn in upstream industries, the domestic cement market is likely to record its lowest performance in 35 years since the early 1990s. The crisis in the cement industry is growing due to increasingly stringent environmental regulations and rising manufacturing costs. We will adopt a challenging attitude amidst the crisis, carefully consider our approach, and enhance execution capabilities to achieve continuous growth and development in the cement industry."
