Minister Park Sang-woo emphasized in the '2025 New Year's Address' that he will establish measures to prevent the recurrence of the Jeju Air Muan Airport disaster and ensure that the public does not feel anxious about using flights.
On the 31st, Minister Park said, “I express my deep condolences and comfort to the bereaved families who are suffering from the loss of their loved ones,” and noted, “We must do our best in follow-up measures and safety management, thinking of the bereaved families who are spending each day in pain.”
Minister Park stated, “Not only are the political and economic situations at home and abroad challenging, but national issues such as low birth rates and aging populations, concentration in the metropolitan area, and the crisis of climate change are approaching as realities that can no longer be postponed,” and urged, “Everyone must approach their work with extraordinary resolve.”
He emphasized the attitude of 'preparation prevents misfortune.' Minister Park called to start all policies and work from the perspective of safety and urged, “Let’s innovate the safety systems in all fields, including aviation safety, road, rail, and construction, to create a safer South Korea.”
Additionally, Minister Park emphasized that active early execution of financial resources and bold regulatory relaxation should be pursued to reverse the stagnation of the construction industry, which is a national key industry, and stated, “We must focus our capabilities on securing supply as much as possible to stabilize the housing market and lay the foundation for sustainable dwelling supply.”
He also mentioned the need to address the concentration in the metropolitan area. Minister Park said, “We must foster competitive economic and living areas by region and provide quality jobs and pleasant living conditions in the provinces so that young people can have affection and pride for their regions.”
Minister Park said, “We must not neglect preparations for the future,” and added, “If we can seize global competitiveness in next-generation new industries such as autonomous vehicles, urban air mobility (UAM), and smart cities, it will provide the people with a better future and new growth engines for our economy.”
