On the 30th, the Seoul Metropolitan Government announced the confirmation of a rapid consolidation plan for a redevelopment project candidate site covering 51,258 square meters in Myeonmok-dong, Jungnang-gu. This area is actively undergoing urban development and is expected to have a new station on the Myeonmok Line in the future.

The rapid consolidation plan includes the implementation of a pedestrian-friendly city connected to Jungnang Stream, traffic and pedestrian network planning considering surrounding developments, and plans to create specialized landscapes along Jungnang Stream.

A pedestrian-friendly residential complex will be created that is conveniently consolidated without interruption to the Jungnang Stream embankment walking path. To improve accessibility to the embankment walking path, a park will be developed adjacent to the embankment, and a multi-level walkway and elevators will be installed to accommodate individuals with mobility challenges. Additionally, once the undergroundization of the Dongbu Expressway is completed, a direct connection to the Jungnang Stream will be secured.

The arterial road, Dongil-ro, will be widened, and the left-turn exit and entrance will be modified, while Gyeomjae-ro 2-gil will be changed from one-way traffic focused on resident priority parking to two-way traffic for smoother traffic management.

Roads primarily for vehicles will be reorganized into separated pedestrian and vehicular roads to create a safe walking environment. The location of the new Myeonmok Line station will be connected with walking paths to facilitate movement from the station to Jungnang Stream.

Specialized landscapes along the water will also be created. Once the ecological park above the underground Dongbu Expressway is completed, the Seoul Metropolitan Government expects it will grow into a waterfront destination preserving natural beauty and ecological landscapes comparable to the Han River.

Considering the scenic harmony with Jungnang Stream, the building's front view will be lower while gradually rising towards the back, minimizing the oppressive feeling in the waterfront space. The 'waterfront specialized building layout area' will introduce open balconies to maximize the locational advantages and value of the complex situated by the waterfront.

With the confirmation of this rapid consolidation plan for the 'Myeonmok-dong 172-1 redevelopment,' 90 out of 148 rapid consolidation plan candidate sites in Seoul have completed planning, equivalent to 160,000 households. Among these 90 sites, 30 sites have been designated as maintenance areas, four have received project implementation plan approval, and two have commenced construction. By next year, an additional 60 sites will be designated as maintenance areas, and five will receive project implementation plan approval.
