Choi Joong-kyung, former Minister of Knowledge Economy, has been appointed as the Ambassador for International Investment Cooperation. The Ambassador for International Investment Cooperation is responsible for meeting with domestic and foreign investors and representatives of related organizations, visiting overseas institutions related to foreign direct investment (FDI) and meeting with key figures, and promoting the country at overseas investment briefings (IR).

The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy noted on the 6th, "The government actively explains the robust fundamentals of the Korean economy to the international community and has appointed former Minister Choi as the Ambassador for International Investment Cooperation to enhance external credibility," adding, "We expect Ambassador Choi to contribute to expanding the momentum for attracting foreign investment, which is achieving record results."

The Ambassador for International Investment Cooperation is a special envoy. This system assigns the title of ambassador to individuals with expertise and recognition in various fields to utilize them in diplomatic activities. The term lasts for one year.

Ambassador Choi has served as the Minister of Knowledge Economy, the President of the Korean Institute of Certified Public Accountants, and the Vice Minister of the Ministry of Strategy and Finance. He is regarded as having diverse and extensive work experience and expertise across the economy, industry, and real economy.

Additionally, he has served as an executive director of the World Bank and ambassador to the Philippines, and he is currently the president of the Korea-U.S. Association, being viewed as an ideal candidate to promote Korea.
