LG Electronics announced on the 10th that Eun Seok-hyun, Vice President of LG Electronics' VS Division, was selected as a winner in the Leader institutional sector at the 2025 SDV Innovator Awards, hosted by the global automotive media 'MotorTrend.' The awards ceremony took place on the 7th (local time) in Las Vegas, where CES 2025 is being held.
The MotorTrend SDV Innovator Awards is a prestigious award that selects individuals who have led innovation in the SDV (Software Defined Vehicle) field and is celebrating its third year this year. Winners will be chosen in three institutional sectors: Pioneer, Leader, and Expert.
Vice President Eun Seok-hyun was selected in the 'Leader' institutional sector, awarded to individuals leading trends in the automotive industry related to SDV. He was specifically recognized for his contributions to the advancement of SDV technology. MotorTrend, founded in 1949, is the largest automotive media group in the United States and hosts various awards, including the authoritative 'Car of the Year' award, exerting influence in the global automotive industry.
Deputy Minister Eun Seok-hyun has strengthened the core competencies of SDV, including in-vehicle infotainment (IVI), displays, software, telematics, and advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS), since assuming the role of head of the VS Division in 2022.
In particular, he introduced the SDV solution 'LG αWare' in 2024, which innovatively expands customer experience in vehicles, redefining cars as 'mobile living spaces' rather than mere transportation.
'LG αWare' includes PlayWare, a vehicle entertainment solution that offers high-quality and high-definition content experiences; MetaWare, which provides drivers with useful information and immersive in-vehicle experiences through AR/MR and AI technologies; BaseWare, which enhances the performance of existing vehicle operating systems or supports the construction of new platforms; and OpsWare, which assists developers throughout the entire development process from software integration to new technology verification and deployment.
Additionally, he contributed to the advancement of SDV technology by developing a platform that integrates IVI and ADAS technologies with various partner companies. This platform enables real-time data sharing between IVI and ADAS, enhancing vehicle performance and driving convenience for clients, thus providing a safer and more effective driving experience. Furthermore, it obtained international common evaluation criteria certification for assessing the security stability of V2X (Vehicle to Everything) communication modules, earning recognition for its high-level security technology.
Vice President Eun Seok-hyun noted, 'This award is a recognition of LG Electronics' achievements in contributing to the advancement of SDV technology, and we will continue to challenge ourselves to lead innovation in the future mobility industry.'
Meanwhile, LG Electronics will operate a space for its advanced mobility technology solution, 'In-Cabin Sensing,' based on empathetic intelligence (AI) during CES 2025.
