Samsung Electro-Mechanics announced on the 6th that it has been selected as an 'Outstanding Workplace for Employee Health Promotion' by the Occupational Safety and Health Agency for the results of its systematic and continuous employee health promotion activities.
Outstanding workplaces for employee health promotion are selected based on a comprehensive evaluation of 43 items in seven categories, including the establishment of safety and health systems, awareness levels, organizational culture, and health promotion activities, according to the Ministry of Employment and Labor's guidelines on employee health promotion activities. Samsung Electro-Mechanics was selected as the first 'Outstanding Workplace for Employee Health Promotion' within the Samsung Group in 2021 and has been reselected through reassessment this time.
Samsung Electro-Mechanics establishes health promotion activity plans for employees through the industrial safety and health Commissioner and operates various programs. These include ▲ mobile health promotion programs ▲ one-on-one personalized exercise prescriptions, dietary management, and personal training support ▲ remote healthcare for overseas personnel ▲ mental health and emotional stability programs.
The mobile health promotion program was conducted in a non-face-to-face manner over 12 weeks to improve diabetes, hypertension, dyslipidemia, and obesity. This year, more than 400 employees participated, measuring health indicators such as blood pressure and blood sugar, receiving personalized exercise prescriptions and dietary consultation, with 70% of participants seeing improvements in their body mass index (BMI).
Additionally, Samsung Electro-Mechanics provided one-on-one personalized exercise prescriptions, dietary management, and personal health trainer support for employees struggling with body fat management, and promoted walking challenges to raise awareness of health, encouraging exercise habits, improving employees' body mass indexes by 6% compared to last year.
Samsung Electro-Mechanics is also supporting remote telemedicine in collaboration with comprehensive hospitals for the health management of overseas personnel. This includes consultations with medical professionals in 17 different specialties, issuance of English diagnosis certificates and prescriptions for symptoms and chronic diseases occurring locally.
In addition, Samsung Electro-Mechanics operates a mental health center for employees' mental health and stress management. It supports the operation of mental health programs, external couple counseling, psychiatric treatment, and meditation education.
Jang Deok-hyun, CEO of Samsung Electro-Mechanics, said, 'We will do our best to operate various health promotion programs for the health of our employees and to ensure that those who are struggling or experiencing psychological difficulties can receive help.'
