Nvidia, a leader in artificial intelligence (AI) chips, has completed its acquisition of the Israeli AI startup Run:ai.

Although Nvidia did not disclose the specific acquisition amount, Bloomberg News reported on the 30th (local time) that the transaction is estimated to be worth $700 million (about 1 trillion won).

Run:ai is a company that develops software to optimize the utilization of graphics processing units (GPUs) for AI. By using this software, better performance can be extracted from existing hardware.

Founded in 2018, this startup has closely collaborated with Nvidia since its early days. Run:ai's software is designed to deliver optimized performance on Nvidia GPUs. With an 80% share of the AI chip market, Nvidia is expected to expand its AI ecosystem through this acquisition.

Run:ai noted that it plans to open source its AI infrastructure optimization software to allow wider usage across more platforms throughout the AI ecosystem, which was previously limited to Nvidia GPUs.
