This month, the average monthly price of DRAM memory semiconductors has been reported to be stable. The same NAND flash memory has shown a slight decline compared to the previous month.
According to market research firm DRAMeXchange on the 31st, the average fixed transaction price for general-purpose DRAM products (DDR4 8Gb 1Gx8) for PCs in December was recorded at $1.35, the same as the previous month.
DRAM prices have generally risen since last October, but remained stable from May to July before declining in August. Then in September, there was a sharp drop of 17.07%, and there was no change in October. However, due to intensified price competition among some suppliers and oversupply, in November, the DRAM price fell by 20.59% compared to the previous month (October).
The average fixed transaction price of general-purpose NAND flash products (128Gb 16Gx8 MLC) for memory cards and USBs in November recorded a decrease of 3.48% from the previous month at $2.08.
NAND prices have shown a downward trend for four consecutive months after remaining stable following five months of increases since last October. Last month, the price fell by 29.80%.
Market research firm TrendForce noted regarding memory price trends that "the continuation of inventory reduction by PC original equipment manufacturers (OEM) and the completion of DRAM contracts in October and November led to a price drop, and as a result, the price was maintained in December compared to November."
They also analyzed, "As of the end of the fourth quarter, the inventory level of PC OEMs is about 10 to 15 weeks, and they will continue to reduce inventory in the traditionally slow first quarter of next year, while the expansion of production capacity by China's CXMT will prolong the oversupply of DRAM."
