An online space is being created to commemorate the Jeju Air passenger plane disaster that occurred at Jeonnam Muan International Airport.

Naver added a tribute page for victims on its main homepage on the 30th, with over 100,000 people participating as of 9:30 a.m. Users can join by logging in with their account and clicking on the "attach tribute chrysanthemum" button, but participation is only counted once per account.

Kakao established a separate news tab and a tribute page for victims on the portal Daum the day before. As of 9:30 a.m., over 8,000 people participated, and the tribute page featured articles covering the status of casualties, family stories, and government responses.

Meanwhile, on social media, there are ongoing requests to suspend comment services due to concerns about secondary victimization of bereaved families and the spread of conspiracy theories. On X, posts requesting Naver to close the comment section are being shared. This is interpreted as a movement hoping that cases of mocking victims and disclosing personal information will not be repeated, similar to what happened during the Sewol ferry disaster or the Itaewon tragedy.

Currently, Naver and Kakao are maintaining their comment services but are continuously monitoring the situation. Naver has provided news outlets with the option to turn comments on and off, and Kakao stated it will review additional measures if necessary.
