On the 19th, domestically based system semiconductor design corporation Genitix announced it would expand its business into the touchpad module market for laptop and tablet covers, leveraging its experience in supplying touch integrated circuit (IC) products for mobile and wearable devices.
Genitix has established a strong presence in the global market, including China and the United States, through specialized products for smart devices such as touch, haptic, and power ICs. It has been recognized for its technological capabilities by supplying wearable ICs not only to Samsung Electronics but also to major global manufacturers such as Xiaomi and BBK.
Recently, Genitix has been accelerating its entry into the global market through touchpad modules incorporated into products from Samsung Electronics and other global manufacturers, positioning the touchpad module market for laptop and tablet covers as a new growth driver. It is also actively entering the Chinese tablet cover market to expand its business scope.
Genitix CEO Kwon Seok-man said, "Since HMI (Halo Microelectronics) became the largest shareholder of Genitix in August, we have been preparing for global market expansion and business diversification," and added, "We are expanding into the laptop, home appliance, and automotive markets based on our experience accumulated in mobile and wearable products."
He continued, "In particular, Genitix has been paying attention to the growth potential in the laptop market, especially with AI (artificial intelligence) laptops, and this entry into the touchpad module market is our first step," emphasizing, "In the future, we will expand our company’s system semiconductor portfolio into various fields, including home appliances and electric vehicles."
