Fortinet Korea announced on the 18th that it has released the '2025 Cyber Threat Outlook Report.'
The report emphasizes that while attackers are still utilizing classical tactics that have persisted for decades, they are shifting towards more sophisticated and destructive strategies. Cybercrime-as-a-Service (CaaS) groups are becoming increasingly specialized, and attackers are adopting playbooks that leverage both digital and physical threats to execute more targeted and impactful attacks.
This report, authored by FortiGuard Labs, the security research institute of Fortinet, contains insights on the evolution of existing attack methods, new trends shaping the future of cybercrime, and actionable recommendations to enhance organizational resilience.
As cybercrime continues to evolve, several characteristic trends are expected to emerge after 2025. Fortinet identified the following: ▲ heightened expertise in attack chains ▲ cloud environments with high cyber attack potential ▲ automated hacking tools appearing in dark web marketplaces ▲ playbooks expanding to include real threats ▲ the expansion of anti-adversary frameworks ▲ strengthening collective resilience against the evolving threat landscape.
Fortinet noted, "The importance of efforts across the industry and public-private collaboration cannot be overstated, and the number of organizations participating in such collaborations is expected to increase in the future." It also stated, "It should be remembered that cybersecurity is not solely the responsibility of security and IT teams, but rather the duty of all members."
