Hangul and Computer (hereinafter referred to as Hancom) announced on the 17th that it will expand its AI ecosystem and target the on-device AI market. To this end, it plans to strengthen collaboration with the global corporation Intel in the field of on-device AI.
On the 16th, Hancom conducted a session presentation on the theme of "productivity innovation opening with on-device AI" at the domestic launch event for the next-generation graphics card optimized for AI processing from Intel Korea, the Intel Arc B-Series, and revealed its collaboration plans with Intel.
The two corporations decided to focus their capabilities to respond to the expansion of the on-device AI market and provide new user experiences in AI PC environments. Hancom is currently testing to extend its core AI products, Hancom Assistant and Hancompedia, beyond on-premise and cloud environments into the on-device realm. In particular, discussions are underway to maximize the synergetic effects through the combination of Intel's RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) technology and Hancompedia. Additionally, the two corporations plan to collaborate with Hancom Academy, an edtech subsidiary of Hancom, to develop online and offline educational programs.
On-device AI is a technology that processes AI calculations directly on user devices instead of cloud servers, allowing for real-time information processing and decision-making without sending data to external servers. By combining Intel's advanced hardware with Hancom's AI technology, it is expected that core functions of AI-based automated document generation solutions, such as drafting and summarizing documents, can be implemented quickly and securely without an internet connection, ultimately enhancing personal productivity.
Hancom plans to use this collaboration as a stepping stone to establish a foundation not only for enhancing Hancom Assistant but also for the advancement and expansion of the upcoming Hancom SLM (Small Language Model). Furthermore, it aims to engage in new technology development and market expansion through close connections with Intel.
Hancom CEO Kim Yeon-soo said, "As the AI PC market is expected to grow rapidly, our collaboration with Intel will significantly enhance the user experience of Hancom AI products." He added, "We will support more users in easily utilizing AI technology through on-device AI and lead the popularization of AI by expanding AI accessibility." He also emphasized, "By linking the strengths and strategies of both companies, we will enhance our competitiveness in the global on-device AI market."
