Samsung Electronics holds a global strategy meeting by institutional sector starting today to discuss its business strategy for 2025.
According to industry reports on the 17th, Samsung Electronics will hold a global strategy meeting for three days starting today to outline its business plan for 2025. The device experience (DX) institutional sector and the mobile experience (MX) business unit will hold discussions on the 17th, while the video display (VD) and home appliance (DA) business units will meet on the 18th. The device solutions (DS) institutional sector, responsible for semiconductor operations, will convene on the 19th.
Samsung Electronics' global strategy meetings are held twice a year, in June and December, where executives from domestic and overseas gather to share current issues by institutional sector and region. Han Jong-hee, head of the DX institutional sector (vice chairman), and Jeon Young-hyun, head of the DS institutional sector (vice chairman), will each preside over the meetings. Lee Jae-yong, chairman of the board, is expected not to attend the meetings this year and will receive reports on the business sector's strategies.
During the meeting, strategies for expanding sales by product, as well as risk hedging strategies in response to high exchange rates, are expected to be discussed. The MX business unit, led by Noh Tae-moon (president), is likely to focus on reviewing the sales strategy for its lineup in the first half of 2025, including the Galaxy S25.
In the case of the TV and home appliance business, it has been reported that the plan is to assess the new products to be showcased at the upcoming Consumer Electronics Show (CES 2025) and to review the operational plans for each product.
In the case of the DS institutional sector, it is estimated that it will seek solutions to recover the fundamental competitiveness of the semiconductor business, including high-bandwidth memory (HBM) and major business units. Given the intensifying U.S.-China conflict ahead of the incoming administration of former President Donald Trump, uncertainty surrounding the semiconductor industry is increasing, and discussions are expected to be held to mitigate risks for the next year.
LG Electronics will also hold a company-wide expansion management meeting on the 20th, led by CEO Cho Joo-wan. LG Electronics conducts company-wide expansion management meetings under the CEO's guidance every year in the first and second halves.
Similar to previous years, the upcoming meeting is expected to see a total of about 300 executives, including LG Electronics' headquarters management, business unit executives, overseas regional representatives, and corporate leaders, participate both on-site and online.
