The Smilegate Future Lab Foundation announced on the 13th that it successfully held the graduation ceremony for the 16th class of the Smilegate Membership (SGM) institutional sector Indie Game Division yesterday.

The ceremony was an opportunity for the 16th class participants, who had dedicated the past six months to indie game development, to reflect on their activities and support one another. The SGM Indie Game Division is a flagship creative program of Future Lab that supports young creators in enhancing their indie game development capabilities through interaction with peers.

A total of 15 teams, comprising 42 participants, took part in the ceremony, including the Lizard Smoothie team, which developed ‘Shape of Dream’; Igege Game, which created ‘Kiki Keki Cap’; and Drabbit Studio, which produced ‘Soulers.’ The participating teams immersed themselves in indie game development by engaging in various programs such as peer learning, Open Beta Day, and the ‘Burning Beaver 2024’ booth exhibition, starting from a workshop on June 27.

Jung Hee-beom, the Head of Team at Writers, noted, “We were able to grow by learning from the strengths of other teams. We want to continue our relationship with the SGM community in the future.”

Certificates of completion were awarded to all participating teams at the ceremony, and they are expected to continue their community activities by participating in the ‘SGM Going’ program, which has an alumni association nature.

Hwang Joo-hun, the Head of Team at Smilegate Future Lab, said, “The SGM Indie Game Division is a community where creators support each other and share feedback to grow together,” adding, “We will continue to provide systematic support so that creators can discover greater possibilities through collaboration in the future.”
