The AI-based defense startup “Quantum Aero” announced on the 18th that it has secured 3.7 billion won in seed funding from ST Capital, OpenWater Angels, and two strategic investors.

Founded in February last year, Quantum Aero imports AI drones and is also the official partner of the U.S. defense startup “Shield AI,” which develops AI-based autonomous flight technology.

Quantum Aero disclosed that through this investment, it has achieved a total investment of 4.7 billion won and has been valued at 50 billion won just one year after its establishment.

Quantum Aero conducted combat trials of Shield AI’s vertical takeoff and landing unmanned aircraft “V-BAT” on the Dokdo ship in June of last year and is pursuing collaborative measures to provide defense AI solutions by entering into non-disclosure agreements with domestic defense corporations, including Hanwha Aerospace.

Quantum Aero CEO Jeon Dong-geun said, “We will solve the structural issues faced by our military through the advancement of AI weapons systems in collaboration with large corporations,” and added, “We will also continue the second defense export boom in the global defense market.”
