This year, there are controversies arising from the delays in building the Onnuri gift certificate platform and conflicts between operating entities as the operator of the Onnuri gift certificate changes from Bizplay to the Korea Minting, Security Printing and ID Card Operating Corporation.
Bizplay, which has been in charge of the existing Onnuri gift certificate management, raised concerns that the mobile Onnuri gift certificate purchase function might be partially restricted ahead of the Lunar New Year. In response, the Small Business Market Promotion Corporation (SMP) and the new operating company, the Korea Minting, Security Printing and ID Card Operating Corporation, took steps to clarify the situation.
Since January, the Small Business Market Promotion Corporation has entrusted the integrated management of card-type and mobile Onnuri gift certificates to the Korea Minting, Security Printing and ID Card Operating Corporation. However, as the establishment of the Mint's platform is delayed, they requested Bizplay to manage operations until February. Nevertheless, during this process, some mobile gift certificate functions are expected to be suspended in mid-February. In relation to this, both the SMP and the Mint stated there would be no issues with the new integrated platform operations starting in March.
On the 5th, the Mint stated, "We are thoroughly preparing for the launch of the Onnuri gift certificate integrated platform on March 1." The Mint added, "We have completed the establishment of the corporate purchase website, including functions for purchasing with corporate cards, bank transfers, and mass issuance of gift certificates per employee, and we are currently analyzing mobile gift certificate data," and emphasized, "We will do our utmost to ensure that the newly established integrated platform operates without any issues."
Earlier, the SMP also noted on the 3rd, "Card-type and mobile gift certificates can be purchased normally during the Lunar New Year period." However, the SMP stated, "In the case of mobile gift certificates, due to restrictions from the service provider (Bizplay), the 'gift function' will only be available until January 10." It added, "A temporary suspension of the entire service for the Onnuri gift certificate integrated platform is scheduled to occur starting February 15," while reiterating that there would be no issues with operations starting on March 1.
Bizplay has raised questions regarding potential problems in gift certificate distribution due to the limitations on some mobile Onnuri gift certificate functions and the possibility that the Mint's integrated platform may not operate in March.
