Choi Tae-won, chairman of SK Group, and other business leaders and chief executive officers (CEOs) will attend the Consumer Electronics Show (CES 2025), the world's largest IT and electronics exhibition, from Jan. 7 to 10 in Las Vegas. They are expected to examine the latest trends in global industries, including artificial intelligence (AI), and expand overseas networks through meetings with global clients.
According to the business community on the 5th, Chairman Choi will attend CES for the third consecutive year following 2023 and 2024. Other attendees include Kwon No-jung, CEO of SK Hynix, Kim Joo-seon, president of AI Infrastructure (CMO), and Ahn Hyun, president of Development (CDO), along with Yoo Young-sang, CEO of SK Telecom.
Chairman Choi is expected to examine global technology trends during CES and hold business meetings with AI-related corporations. There is also interest in whether he will meet Jensen Huang, CEO of Nvidia, who will take the stage for a keynote address at CES for the first time in eight years.
Lee Jae-yong, chairman of Samsung Electronics, who has not attended CES since 2013, is also expected to miss this year's event. Instead, Han Jong-hee, head of Samsung Electronics' Device eXperience (DX) institutional sector (vice chairman), along with Ryu Jae-cheol, head of the Visual Display Business (president), and Lee Won-jin, head of Global Marketing (president), will attend.
In particular, Vice Chairman Han will serve as the representative speaker at a press conference held before the opening, presenting Samsung Electronics' AI home strategy under the theme of "AI for everyone." President Ryu will introduce new TVs based on AI technology, and President Lee will oversee brand marketing, including the press conference and exhibitions.
In the case of LG Electronics, CEO Jo Joo-wan will attend CES as the representative speaker for "LG World Premier." Ryu Jae-cheol, head of the HS Business Division (president), Park Hyung-se, head of the MS Business Division (president), and Eun Seok-hyun, head of the VS Business Division (vice president), will all participate. Moon Hyuk-soo, CEO of LG Innotek, will also attend again this year.
In the business community, interest is focused on whether Shin Yu-yeol, the eldest son of Shin Dong-bin, chairman of Lotte Group, who also attended CES in 2023 and 2024, will attend this year. Within Lotte Group, Kim Kyung-yeop, CEO of Lotte Innovate, will engage in discussions with Kim Dong-kyu, CEO of Caliverse, a subsidiary of the metaverse platform.
Meanwhile, this year's CES is expected to see a reduced scale of attendance from domestic corporate leaders and CEOs compared to last year. It is reported that Chung Eui-sun, chairman of Hyundai Motor Group, and Chung Ki-seon, vice chairman of HD Hyundai, who attended last year's CES, will not participate this year. Conversely, a record 1,031 Korean corporations, including personnel, will attend CES this year, ranking third after the United States (1,509) and China (1,399).
