Lee Hee-keun, president of POSCO, noted, "We will further strengthen our core competitiveness in steel through innovations in manufacturing costs and technology based on robust facilities."

In his inaugural speech delivered online on the 3rd, Lee said, "At a time when it is difficult both internally and externally, I feel more a sense of responsibility than joy in taking on this important role." Appointed as the representative of POSCO during last month's personnel reshuffle, Lee announced his inaugural address online instead of holding a ceremony in person, in accordance with the group's policy to reduce events inside and outside the company to mourn the Jeju Air passenger plane disaster at Muan International Airport.

Lee stated, "I want to overcome the current difficulties together and make POSCO the best place to work in the world," emphasizing values such as safety, strengthening competitiveness in steel, creating innovative strategies, customer focus, and communication.

He urged, "Above all, the competitiveness on the ground must be the best in the world, and safety must always be the foundation for that," adding, "Please always think about and practice what you can do to prevent safety disasters in your respective positions."

Lee stressed, "We will restore the performance of degraded equipment and establish a robust equipment management process to ensure a virtuous cycle of operations in the steelworks," and encouraged the team to wield creativity to create new business opportunities for POSCO amid external uncertainties and to pursue a path of growth together with customers.

Lee said, "If all employees gather their strength and wisdom during this period of great transformation, we can leap forward again," and added, "I will do my utmost to ensure that the steelworks regain their vitality and run vigorously."
