The comprehensive equipment company SFA recently announced on the 2nd that it has successfully won a logistics center automation project worth approximately 50 billion won from the logistics company BGF Logistics.
BGF Retail, which operates the convenience store CU, is pushing to construct a large-scale logistics center with a total floor area of 120,000 square meters (about 38,000 pyeong) on a site of 47,000 square meters (about 14,000 pyeong) within the Busan International Industrial Logistics City. This center is about twice the size of the existing BGF Retail central logistics center and aims to be operational in the second half of 2026.
The new logistics center is expected to serve as an export base to quickly transport goods and materials to overseas regions such as Mongolia, Malaysia, and Kazakhstan, while efficiently restructuring the delivery system for the Yeongnam region through logistics integration, large-scale operations, and automation.
SFA has secured an entire advanced logistics system to be supplied within this large new logistics center from BGF Logistics. Based on a complex design that encompasses both ambient and cold environments, as well as high-frequency and low-frequency shipments, the plan is to apply a system aimed at maximizing logistics efficiency, increasing both speed and accuracy of operations.
An SFA official noted, 'In line with the global spread of K-culture, the demand for convenience stores is also spreading to various regions around the world, and the convenience store industry is planning to enter the global market.' He added that in accordance with the rapid expansion of facility investment in the retail and distribution sector, the distribution business will be a driving force for the company's medium- to long-term growth alongside the institutional sectors of secondary batteries and semiconductors.
