Renault Korea announced on the 31st that it will establish dedicated equipment for electric vehicles at its Busan factory. This is a preparatory step for producing electric vehicles such as the 'Polestar 4' on the existing line.

Electric vehicles equipped with the latest large-capacity batteries are approximately 25% heavier than their internal combustion engine counterparts. To add electric vehicles to the existing mixed production line, preparatory work, such as reinforcing the load capacity of the line equipment, is necessary.

The factory can produce up to eight vehicle models based on four different platforms using a single assembly line in a mixed production method. Renault Korea plans to halt operations at the assembly plant while installing the new equipment, undergo test operations, and resume production in early February.

Earlier, Polestar noted that it plans to start producing the coupe-style electric sports utility vehicle (SUV) Polestar 4 at Renault Korea's Busan factory from the second half of 2025.
