Korean Air announced on the 17th that it has donated 500 upcycled safety bag covers made from discarded PET bottles to the Gangseo Fire Station in Seoul.
The bag covers are waterproof materials that fit over school bags, featuring the number 30, which indicates the speed limit of 30 km/h in children's protection areas. Korean Air employees collected PET bottles to make them. Gangseo Fire Station plans to distribute them to kindergarten and elementary school students participating in fire safety education to prevent traffic accidents involving children.
Korean Air is realizing ESG (environmental, social, and governance) management through the production of upcycled products. Last year, safety helmets made from in-flight blankets that are difficult to reuse were used as teaching materials in fire safety classes. Korean Air also produced medicine pouches using discarded cabin crew uniforms and donated them filled with essential medicines to those in need.
