Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI) announced on the 13th that it held a commemorative event after achieving a 'no accident in 25 years' record since its establishment on October 1, 1999, with no accidents occurring in aircraft development, mass production, and flight testing.
The event, held in the main auditorium of KAI, was attended by key executives, including KAI President Gang Gu-young and Deputy Minister Moon Hee-chan, who participated in the unveiling ceremony of the 'no accident in 25 years' commemorative plaque.
Achieving a no-accident record during the flight testing phase, which inherently carries a high level of risk, is a monumental achievement that even countries that developed aircraft over a century ago have not accomplished.
KAI has developed various platforms, starting with the KT-1 series aircraft, the supersonic T-50 series, KF-21, Surion series, and LAH (Light Armed Helicopter), achieving a total of 33,257 hours of no-accident flight testing, including 9,571 hours for fixed-wing and 23,685 hours for rotary-wing aircraft. During this period, 1,288 aircraft were produced, of which 225 were exported to nine countries.
President Gang noted, 'Although there have been many challenges and difficulties to achieve this accomplishment, it was made possible through the passion and efforts of all employees.' He emphasized, 'Just as we have built up a significant record of no-accident flight testing over the past 25 years, we will continue to maintain a record of no-accident flights and strive to become a trusted global corporation for our customers.'
