Last year, the payment amount for Naver Pay's overseas QR payment service grew approximately 7.7 times compared to the previous year.
Naver Pay noted on the 10th that it released the report titled "Overseas QR Payment 2024 Year-end Settlement Report." Naver Pay explained that the number of overseas merchants significantly increased through partnerships with global payment companies and that various promotions attracted user participation.
The number of countries and regions where overseas QR payment services are available is 66, becoming the highest in the domestic simple payment industry. The countries where the service was most utilized are Japan, China, and Thailand. Naver Pay reported that the number of new payment users in Japan increased approximately 12 times month-on-month in July of last year, when it held the "50% discount at Japanese convenience stores" promotion.
Im Mi-young, leader of payment infrastructure and business at Naver Pay, said, "Naver Pay has been working to provide a simple and secure payment infrastructure internationally, including supporting payments at merchants of the three major Chinese payment companies, which is unique in Korea. We plan to offer various promotions this year, focusing on overseas merchants that users frequently visit."
