Shinhan Bank Chairman Jeong Sang-hyuk stated in his New Year’s speech on the 2nd, “We intend to invest all resources to secure a solid platform that focuses on innovation in our core business and challenges towards the future, leading to sustainable growth.”
He presented this year's strategic goal as “Value Up Together! A solid bank growing towards the future through innovation in our core business!”
Chairman Jeong emphasized breaking the mold with “value innovation in the core business,” stating, “Along with a shift in the perception of existing growth methods, changes in the way we work are necessary.” He highlighted, “In addition to a sales strategy focused on asset growth, we must pay great attention to qualitative growth through the efficient use of resources.”
Chairman Jeong remarked, “We must create a solution that is unified from the customer’s perspective, encompassing all of Shinhan’s capabilities and know-how,” adding, “We should seek opportunities for ‘consolidation and expansion’ beyond the boundaries of our business and in all places where customers and finance are present, thereby further broadening Shinhan's business domain.”
He urged that all efforts should also go into 'preparing for the future' to gain a competitive edge. Chairman Jeong stated that we must create new customer value and enhance financial convenience by internalizing the latest digital technologies and integrating them into financial services. He emphasized that the expansion of financial platforms is not an option but a necessity.
He said, “We must have a ‘solid platform’ that supports sustainable growth,” explaining, “Since robust internal controls are a core element for sustainable growth, I want to make 2025 a year to enhance the completeness of the internal control system.” He also requested that all employees adhere closely to the ‘basics.’
Chairman Jeong referred to the philosophy of 'Gangyugyeomjeon' (strength and gentleness coexisting in harmony), stating, “Let’s uphold the basics and principles, remain flexible in dealing with uncertain environments, and overcome any difficulties. Let’s move forward vigorously towards a better future for Shinhan with a mindset that is not afraid of change.”
