WDG Farm has decided to invest in the 'Chungnam Global Horti Complex (Agricultural Bio Complex),' which will be developed as the largest smart farm complex in the country, and it announced on the 11th that it would establish a special purpose company (SPC) to promote the project.

The total project cost of the Chungnam Global Horti Complex is expected to exceed 330 billion won, funded by contributions from South Chungcheong Province, Seosan City, local revitalization investment funds, and private investments. WDG Farm will play a substantive role in overall project management through its participation as a major shareholder in the SPC.

WDG Farm will build a glass greenhouse smart farm on a site of 46,000 pyeong among the total area of 120,000 pyeong designated for smart farm development. After equipping the facility in the first half of 2025, it plans to start tomato cultivation in the second half of the year.

Kim Ho-yeon, chairman of WDG Farm, noted, "This investment decision marks the practical beginning of our greenhouse expansion plan, which we have been fully committed to." He added, "We expect to produce over 6,000 tons of processed fruits and vegetables annually and generate new sales exceeding 30 billion won in the newly established smart farm complex."

Kim also said, "We will actively attract young farmers to the smart farm complex, educate them on advanced agricultural techniques, and create conditions for young farmers to settle in rural areas."
