(Interview Part 2) Actor Kang Ha-neul discussed one-person media.
On the 18th, an interview with actor Kang Ha-neul from the movie “Streaming” took place at a café in Jongno-gu, Seoul.
The film “Streaming” (directed and written by Jo Jang-ho, provided and distributed by Lotte Entertainment, produced by Berry Good Studio, co-produced by TH Story) is a thriller that unfolds as the number one crime channel streamer “Soosang” discovers clues to an unresolved serial murder case and tracks the culprit live.
Kang Ha-neul perfectly transformed into the crime channel streamer “Soosang,” which occupies all sponsorship funds on the streaming platform “Waeg,” where only the number one can monopolize.
When asked if there were any media channels that he actually enjoys watching, Kang Ha-neul said, "There are many. I like Daedoseogwan. I have been watching gaming broadcasts since I was young. Also, Gweodo appeared on my channel. I’m really a fan. I also watch a lot of things from Director Kwak Min-soo. I watch content related to science, nature, and space," and added with a laugh, "I want to mention something interesting, but there really isn’t."
Regarding his plans to run a personal YouTube channel, he expressed, "I have thought about it. I watch a lot of travel YouTube, but I don’t often watch those who show their faces. I prefer those who just capture landscapes, like a walking cam. If I were to do it, I would want to do something like that. However, I want to keep everything hidden. If I reveal that I am Kang Ha-neul, it feels like, since I’m doing this work, I want people to watch my YouTube a lot. Doesn’t it feel similar? I just hope that only those who love this field will watch it."
He also shared his thoughts on “Streaming” in relation to the recent controversies surrounding various wreck car YouTubers’ legal battles and the timing of the release.
Kang Ha-neul emphasized, "While acting as Soosang, I hoped that people would realize that what ‘Soosang’ does is not good. To achieve that, I have to act in a way that conveys I’m right in that situation. If I enter that situation with the intention of 'this is not good,’ it seems superficial. I acted that way. (However) I think that the actions of a friend like Soosang are not good."
He continued, "From an actor’s perspective, it would be presumptuous to say, ‘Think this way while watching our movie.’ Still, I think if, just once, a video on my phone that I can turn on and watch could approach me a little differently, hasn’t our film done its part?" as he cautiously expressed.
