The Korea Anti-Doping Agency conducted anti-doping education for 189 trainees at the '2025 22nd Athlete Trainer (AT) Certification Training Program' organized by the Korea Association of Athlete Trainers at Konguk University on the 15th.
This training was led by Lee Sang-min, head of the KADA Education Promotion Department, who lectured on key contents that athlete trainers must know, including doping inspection procedures, prohibited substances, and the Therapeutic Use Exemption (TUE) system. In particular, he emphasized the doping prevention role of athlete trainers who communicate directly with athletes in the sports field.
Lee Young-hee, chairperson of KADA, noted, "Athlete trainers have a significant influence on athletes and coaches not only in injury and condition management but also as anti-doping advisors." She added, "Having the correct anti-doping awareness and familiarizing oneself with prevention methods is the way to protect athletes."
Kim Sang-hoon, the Secretary-General of the Korea Association of Athlete Trainers, who organized the certification training program, also stated, "It is very important for athlete trainers to play a guiding role in doping prevention in the sports field, and we will work with KADA to ensure that the correct anti-doping awareness takes root in the sports scene."
Meanwhile, KADA is expanding its education to not only trainees but also currently active athlete trainers in order to protect athletes from doping. Plans are in place to operate year-round training programs to enhance the capabilities of athlete trainers active in various fields, including professional sports and specialized athletics.
