The Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency announced on the 18th that it conducted a joint training exercise with the police officer mobile unit.

As predictions arise that the Constitutional Court will designate a date for the impeachment ruling against President Yoon Suk-yeol as early as this week, the training aims to prepare for potential unrest in response to excited protesters following the ruling.

This training, involving a total of 45 units and over 2,700 personnel, including eight mobile teams from the Seoul police and units from other regional police agencies, was conducted at the mobile headquarters of the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency.

The training simulated scenarios to maintain police barricades against excited protesters. Mobile unit members wore protective gear and were trained in the use of distance-control capsaicin sprayers and police batons.

The Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency stated, "While educating to ensure strict adherence to safety regulations during the use of police equipment, we focused on checking inter-unit cooperation systems to enhance immediate field response capabilities in an environment similar to actual situations," and noted, "We will continue to conduct training until the ruling date to maintain order with the utmost consideration for citizen safety."
