LG Electronics has introduced its artificial intelligence (AI) home hub device 'ThinQ On,' marking its entry into the AI home market.

According to the industry, LG Electronics initially supplied ThinQ On to corporations in March. Sales to general consumers are set to begin in the first half of this year through online malls and other avenues. ThinQ On is an AI home hub unveiled by LG Electronics at 'IFA 2024' held in Berlin, Germany, last September.

It not only consolidates and controls home appliances and Internet of Things (IoT) devices in optimal condition but also features generative AI that engages in conversation with customers naturally, understanding the context and nuances of the conversation.

For example, if a customer says, 'It seems a bit hot indoors. Please adjust the air conditioner temperature,' it can lower the temperature without a direct command like 'Lower the temperature,' by analyzing the two statements comprehensively and understanding the context.

Through this B2B supply, LG Electronics confirmed the potential for expanding device performance and customer experience with corporate clients and plans to begin sales to general customers through online malls and other channels in the first half of this year.

Along with the supply of ThinQ On, LG Electronics will also set up a 'ThinQ Play' service page in the LG ThinQ app. Customers can receive recommendations for various apps compatible with ThinQ On and install them on the device.

LG Electronics plans to expand the application of services related to life convenience, including the IoT ecosystem of the smart home platform 'AtHome,' which was acquired last year, as well as music streaming and routine management, to apps linked with ThinQ On.

Furthermore, there is a strategy to develop ThinQ On in such a way that household appliances without AI functions can be used like AI appliances by combining them with separate IoT device sensors.
