Murata Manufacturing Co., which supplies parts to companies such as Samsung Electronics and Apple, is considering moving some of its production facilities to India. Earlier, Apple also began trial production of AirPods wireless earphones in India.

Murata is the world's largest manufacturer of multilayer ceramic capacitors (MLCC) and is headquartered in Kyoto, Japan. It is also a major competitor of the country's largest parts companies, such as Samsung Electro-Mechanics and LG Innotek.

According to a Bloomberg report on the 19th, Norio Nakajima, president of Murata, noted in an interview that he expects demand in India to increase and that simulations are being conducted to determine the necessary local investments.

MLCCs are components that help ensure stable current flow in electronic product circuits and are used in most electronic devices, including smartphones, PCs, and cars. Murata products are also used in Samsung Galaxy phones, Apple iPhones, NVIDIA's computer servers, and Sony's game consoles.

Nakajima said, “We have primarily produced capacitors in Japan, but there are customers asking us to increase overseas production to ensure business continuity.” He added, “Currently, the proportion of Japanese production is almost 60%, but it will be close to 50% in the next few years.”
