A recent poll revealed that the approval rating of the Democratic Party, which suffered a defeat against President Donald Trump in last year's U.S. presidential election, has hit its lowest point in 33 years.

On the 16th (local time), CNN commissioned the research firm SSRS to conduct a poll of 1,206 adults in the United States from June 6 to 9, resulting in a Democratic approval rating of 29%.

This is the lowest since CNN began conducting polls in 1992. Compared to the approval rating of 49% in January 2021, when former President Joe Biden took office, it has plunged by 20 percentage points in four years. The approval rating of the ruling Republican Party was recorded at 36%.

The defection of the traditionally supportive "home base" of the Democratic Party has also been confirmed. Among voters who identified as Democratic Party members or leaning Democratic, only 63% responded positively towards the party. In contrast, 79% of Republican-leaning voters responded positively towards the Republican Party.

The lack of a rising figure to succeed former President Biden has contributed to the decline in Democratic approval ratings. When asked, "Who is the politician that best reflects the core values of the Democratic Party?" only 10% of Democratic-leaning voters cited Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. Classified as a radical within the Democratic Party, she received support from 1 in 6 voters under 45, but her support was low among moderate voters.

Former Vice President Kamala Harris, who ran as a presidential candidate in last year's election, recorded an approval rating of 9%, while independent Senator Bernie Sanders recorded 8%. Former President Barack Obama, the first Black president of the United States, still has an approval rating of 4%. 30% of respondents did not name a politician they felt best reflected the core values of the Democratic Party.
